Reimagining Wellness
I recently finished my first semester of graduate school at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health and I’m finally beginning to feel human again.
I’ve had a few weeks off (which doesn’t feel like nearly enough time to recover, reset, and prepare for the spring term which they *claim* gets better), and I’ve been trying to do nothing and everything if that makes any sense.
I’ve been thinking about creating a space to talk about wellness without the limitations that come with writing for mainstream platforms, i.e. prioritizing clicks to generate ad revenue. Initially, I intended on pitching this as a column at a company I used to work at, but I wanted complete creative control and didn’t want this to turn into something that felt like work or caused me stress.
After a few years of dreaming and ideating Reimagining Wellness is here.
This is not another mainstream wellness/fitness platform.
I want this to be a place where we reimagine wellness and move beyond wellness being an industry rooted in capitalism and white supremacy to wellness being accessible to all people, centering community, and more.
Consider this to be part Public Health 101 (sans tuition and whitewashing) and part newsletter among other things.
There’s so much I’m looking forward to sharing with you all to improve our well-being.
With love,
Tamara
