A Note on Self-Alignment
It's time to check-in with yourself.

In a recent therapy session, my therapist asked me what I thought had changed my feelings and perspective about the situation we were discussing. Nothing had changed in regard to the particular subject, but having more life experience, trusting myself more, and knowing that everything always works out as it should, I feel less chaotic inside, which allows me to see things more clearly and for what they really are.
Lately, I’m more grounded in myself, unapologetically confident in who I am and what I’m capable of, and aligned with myself, but this hasn’t always been the case.
It’s easy to fall out of tune with yourself without realizing it, which is why it’s essential to take a moment to check in with yourself and re-align yourself before you start feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. Self-alignment is also important because you’re in your purest form. You’re operating from a place of groundedness, peace, and awareness. You’re not suppressing your intuition; instead, you’re letting it guide you.
So, my task for you is to take a moment and check in with yourself. How are you feeling? What brings you pleasure and joy lately? What no longer serves a purpose in your life? What changes do you need to make to become more aligned with yourself? There’s no right or wrong answer. This exercise is about reconnecting with yourself and strengthening the relationship you have with your mind, body, and spirit.
Here are a few suggestions on how to get re-aligned and become more in tune with yourself.
How to Realign With Yourself
1. Breathe
Put down your phone, find a quiet space, and breathe. Try to avoid taking shallow breaths from the chest and instead focus on filling up your stomach with air as you inhale for four counts. Let your stomach come back to neutral as you exhale for four counts. Don’t rush the process. Repeat for five breaths.
2. Go on a wellness walk
If you can, go outside and get some fresh air. Be intentional and present in your body and your environment.
3. Start and/or Maintain a Movement Routine
Movement is medicine. Create a movement routine that makes you feel good and helps you connect with yourself. Not only is this great for your physical well-being but also your mental well-being.
4. (Re)Connect With Your Community
Communal well-being is often overlooked in our individualistic society, but community unites us. It gives us a sense of belonging. It allows us to connect with others and provides safety and security.
5. Rest
Rest is a form of resistance. Rest is radical. Rest is your birthright. Schedule rest regularly and don’t feel guilty about it. It’s okay to slow down and reset as much as necessary.
